Nomenclatural note on the genus group name in Phasmida
Ahmet Omer Kocak Muhabbet Kemal
Abstract: Nomenclatural note on the genus group name in Phasmida. Cent. ent. Stud., Misc. Pap.
151: 1.
In this paper, the generic name Citrina Redtenbacher,i9o6 is recorded as junior homonym. A
replacement name, Cesaphasma nom.n. is proposed.
Key words: Phasmida, Pseudophasmatidae, nomenclature, Brazil, Colombia, South America.
Within the frame of ongoing Project Entomofauna of the World by the Cesa 1 , nomenclatural
studies on the order Phasmida have been carrying out by the authors for many years. As a result of
this survey, in the family of Pseudophasmatidae of South America, the following generic name is
recorded for the first time as junior homonym: Citrina Redtenbacher,i9o6. This name is evaluated
below nomenclaturally:
Pseudop hasmatidae
Cesaphasma nom.n.
Citrina Redtenbacher, 1906 (Die Insektenfamilie der Phasmiden 1: 109) is invalid as being
junior homonym of Citrina Wagner,i905 (Denkschr. Akad. Wiss. Wien 77: 372) (Mollusca);
therefore, it cannot be used as valid name according to the Rules of the Homonymy (ICZN). No
synonym of Citrina Redtenbacher, 1906 is available. 2 For that reason, we propose here a
replacement name, Cesaphasma (nom.n.) for Citrina Redtenbacher, 1906 nee Citrina
Wagner,i905.
Necessary name combinations:
Cesaphasma modestus (Piza 1985) (comb.n.) Brazil.
Cesaphasma servillei Redtenbacher 1906 (comb.n.)
Cesaphasma venilia (Westwood 1859) (comb.n.) Colombia.

Further nomenclatural notes on the genus group names
in Orthoptera
Ahmet Omer Kocak Muhabbet Kemal
Abstract: Further nomenclatural notes on the genus group names in Orthoptera. Cent. ent. Stud.,
Misc. Pap. 151: 2-3.
In this paper, following new names are proposed for the pre-occupied genus group names in various
orthopteran families: Cesabrazilia nom.n., Cesatropicalia 110111.11. (Tettigoniidae),
Aphanaulacris Uvarov,i925 is proposed here valid generic name (Acrididae).
Keywords: Tettigoniidae, Acrididae, Orthoptera, nomenclature, Peru, Brazil, South Africa.
Within the frame of ongoing Project Entomofauna of the World by the Cesa 3 , nomenclatural
studies on the order Orthoptera have been carrying out by the authors for many years. As a result
of this survey, the following generic names are recorded for the first time as junior homonyms:
Machaira Piza,i958, Stenoschema Redtenbacher,i895 (Tettigoniidae), and Loryma Stal,i878
(Acrididae). These names are evaluated below nomenclaturally:
Tettigoniidae
Conocephalinae
Agraeciini
Cesabrazilia nom. n.
Machaira Toledo Piza,i958 (Studia ent. (N.S.). 1: 463) is invalid, as it is junior homonym of
Machaira Brauer & Bergenstamm, [1889] (Denkschr. Akad. Wien 56 (1): 33, 91, 174) (Diptera).
Machaira Brauer & Bergenstamm, [1889] was proposed as an emendation of Machaeraea
Rondani. This case is obviously seen on page 174). An emendation is also nomenclaturally available
name and according to the Rules, it is used in the homonymy. For that reason, Machaira Toledo
Piza,i958 cannot be used as valid name according to the Rules of the Homonymy (ICZN). No
synonym of Machaira Toledo Piza,i958 is available. As a result of this, we propose here a
replacement name, Cesabrazilia nom. n. for Machaira Toledo Piza,i958 nee Machaira Brauer &
Bergenstamm, [1889].
Necessary name combination:
Cesabrazilia amazonensis (Piza,i958) (comb.n.) Brazil.
Cesatropicalia nom. n.
Stenoschema Redtenbacher,i895 ([in] Brunner von Wattenwyl, Monogr. Pseudophylliden, 16, 136)
is invalid, as it is junior homonym of Stenoschema F6rster,i869 (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae).
For that reason, Stenoschema Redtenbacher,i895 cannot be used as valid name according to the
Rules of the Homonymy (ICZN). No synonym of Stenoschema Redtenbacher,i895 is available. As a
result of this, we propose here a replacement name, Cesatropicalia nom. n. for Stenoschema
Redtenbacher,i895 nee F6rster,i869.

Cesatropicalia recticauda (Beier,i954) (comb.n.) Peru.
Acrididae
Hemiacridinae
Lovymaini
Aphanaulacris Uvarov,i925 (stat.rev.)
The genus name Loryma Stal,i878 (Bih. Kungl. Svensk. Vetensk Akad. Handl. 5 (4): 49) is invalid
as being junior homonym of Loryma Walker,i859 (List specimens lep. Ins. Br. Mus. 19: 890)
(Lepidoptera); therefore, it cannot be used as valid name according to the Rules of the Homonymy
(ICZN). Aphanaulacris Uvarov,i925 (Trans, ent. Soc. London: 287) is the only subjective but
nomenclaturally available synonym of Loryma Stal,i878. For that reason, the name Aphanaulacris
Uvarov,i925 must be used as valid name of the taxon.
Necessary name combination:
Aphanaulacris perficita (Walker,i870) (stat.rev.) South Africa.

that reason, Stenochilus Giordani Soika,i987 cannot be used as valid name according to the Rules
of the Homonymy (ICZN). No synonym of Stenochilus Giordani Soika,i987 is available. As a result
of this, we propose here a replacement name, Cesachilus nom. n. for Stenochilus Giordani
